Child Support

Child support is a determined amount of money that a non-custodial parent must pay to the custodial parent for the purpose of taking care of the children that belong to both parents. This money is to be used for different things that the children need, from medical care and clothing to school supplies, shelter, utilities and more. In some situations, a judge will have an individual pay an extra amount for extra medical care for the children. Child support is a very serious issue and those who refuse to pay the child support they have been ordered to pay could face some very serious consequences. For instance, non-custodial parents can have arrest warrants issued for them, they can have their driver's licenses suspended, they can have their wages garnished or their income tax returns intercepted - and more. There are many methods judges and the Office of Child Support Enforcement can use in order to collect child support from non-custodial parents. Anyone who must attend child support court - whether non-custodial parent or custodial parent - should consider hiring a child support attorney to represent them and ensure that they receive the fairest possible arrangement with the court and with thier ex spouse.
