Child Support Agency

The Child Support Agency, or CSA is an agency in the UK which helps custodial parents obtain child support or maintenance from the non-custodial parents. This agency helped to create the Child Support Act of 1991. Custodial parents can receive help establishing paternity of their children, finding non-custodial parents, obtaining court-mandated child support money each month, and establishing a payment from the non-custodial parent to help care for medical expenses of the children. The CSA also determines the amount of child support paid to the custodial parent from the non-custodial parent and sometimes acts as a middleman between those parents - receiving the payments, recording them and then passing them onto the custodial parent. This agency is part of the Department for Work and Pensions, as well as the Department for Social Development in Ireland. Individuals who feel that they might be in need of the CSA's services may want to contact them directly, or contact an attorney that can help speed the process through.
