Child Support Recovery

Child support recovery is the act of obtaining child support from the non-custodial parent, or the parent ordered by the court to make child support payments. There are several ways to perform child support recovery, including working with the local office of Child Support Enforcement. Individuals can contact this organization by contacting the local Department of Human Services. Another way is to hire an attorney that can fight in court to have the non-custodial parent's wages garnished, and have the money sent directly to the custodial parent. In some cases, the custodial parent will owe a rather large amount in back child support, and some custodial parents can receive this money by having the income tax return of the non-custodial parent garnished. Child support recovery is important to custodial parents and the children they are raising. Children count on the support of both thier custodial and non-custodial parents for clothing, shelter, medical care and more. Those individuals ordered to pay child support could end up facing jail time if they default on the payments.
