New Child Support

In some instances, individuals paying child support will be able to seek new child support terms. For instance, if a non-custodial parent's child comes 'of age,' the parent can have the case reviewed in a court of law in order to have the child support payments dropped. On the other hand, if a new child is born belonging to both the non-custodial parent and the custodial parent, the terms may be revised to add the amount for the new child to the support that is paid monthly. In order to have the case reviewed, custodial and non-custodial parents must speak with their attornies. The attorney can file a motion to have the circumstances looked at so that the child support payments can be adjusted to suit the new situation. An attorney can explain what changes are likely to occur once the case is reviewed, whether the changes will demand more from the non-custodial parent or less.
