State Child Support Program Efforts Recognized
State of California, Dec 06, 2007
Seattle- At the 23rd Annual Western Interstate Child Support Enforcement Council (WICSEC) Training Conference, two California child support agencies, and state Department of Child Support Services (DCSS) staff were recognized for their efforts in providing child support services to California families.
The Orange County Department of Child Support Services received WICSEC’s Outstanding Program Award, which recognizes a program that has consistently and comprehensively exemplified the best in child support enforcement. The San Diego County Department of Child Support Services received WICSEC’s Outstanding Program Awareness award for the “You’re Not Alone” Campaign. Also, Ana Vega from DCSS’ Financial Oversight Unit received WICSEC’s Outstanding Individual Achievement award.
“Child support is a lifeline for thousands of California children and their families in need,” said DCSS Director Greta Wallace. “We are very proud of California’s awardees and their ongoing efforts to maximize our ability to deliver quality child support services.”
WICSEC consists of participating public and private child support enforcement agencies and professionals from all states west of the Mississippi River. A nonprofit association, WICSEC works to promote excellence in the child support community.
DCSS is responsible for ensuring effective implementation of all functions necessary to establish, collect and distribute child support for the child support program. In 2005, the state program collected $2.3 billion and served more than two million children. Child support program services are delivered through 52 local child support agencies.
