Grassley Seeks Guidance to Help Iowa Meet Child Support Fee Requirement

U.S. Senator, Jul 25, 2007

WASHINGTON – Sen. Chuck Grassley, ranking member of the Committee on Finance, is asking the federal government for clarification that the state of Iowa’s preferred option for meeting a child support fee collection requirement is acceptable. Grassley wrote to the federal official in charge of implementing the requirement to explain that Iowa’s preferred option is most efficient for the state but is not explicitly described in federal guidance on meeting the requirement.

"The state of Iowa is working to collect a fee that will help both the state and federal governments pay for child support programs," Grassley said. "The state has developed an option that would work well, and I hope Iowa gets clearance to use its efficient option."
